D'Youville Foundation History
D'Youville Senior Care Foundation, Inc. was established in 2002 by the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa, as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation to serve as a perpetual fund in support of projects and programs to benefit the frail adults and elderly cared for at D'Youville Senior Care (formerly D'Youville Manor).
Compassionate care is the hallmark of D'Youville Senior Care. The Sisters of Charity of Ottawa and D'Youville's 325 dedicated staff members have carried out this tradition of caring since 1960, fulfilling the vision of Saint Marguerite d'Youville, founder of the Grey Nuns from which the Sisters of Charity was formed.
St. Marguerite d'Youville's undertakings of charitable work for the poor and sick broke social conventions of her day. Despite formidable indifferences and challenging obstacles, she forged forward caring for those individuals who could not care for themselves.
D'Youville Foundation has committed to perpetuate St. Marguerite d'Youville's legacy of compassionate care through various philanthropic initiatives to benefit all of D'Youville's seniors, their families, and the elderly within our community. We continuously strive to fund projects and programs so our residents, tenants and clients experience a quality of life that is unprecedented in a senior nursing care setting.
