Planned Gifts - Bequests by Will or Living Trust

Making a bequest by will or living trust is a popular vehicle for planned giving gifts and leaves a legacy of giving to the D'Youville Foundation. It's an easy way for you to make a donation now for future use without taking away from your current cash assets. Common Types of Charitable Bequests

  • Specific Amount Bequest
    You can designate the D'Youville Foundation to receive a specific amount, percentage, or piece of property from your estate. (In terms of leaving a percentage, remember that after you make your will, your estate may unexpectedly increase or decrease in value).

    Sample Wording: I give, devise and bequeath the sum of $ ____________ (or any percentage) to D'Youville Foundation, 981 Varnum Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854 to be used for its Endowment Fund.
  • Residual Bequest
    You can give D'Youville Foundation all, a part of, or a percentage of your estate that remains after your loved ones and/or designers have received their share.

    Sample Wording: I give, devise and bequeath all (or an percentage) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to D'Youville Foundation, 981 Varnum Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854 to be used for its Endowment Fund.
  • Contingent Bequest
    You can choose to designate the D'Youville Foundation to receive your beneficiary's share should he or she predecease you.

    Sample Wording: If any of the above beneficiaries should predecease me or conditions not met as assigned, I hereby bequeath his, her, or that share to the D'Youville Foundation, 981 Varnum Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854
